Could We Be Heading For Tika Taka Style Football?

Another day, another game, another style?

Today was Neil Redfearn's second game in this stint as Care taker manager (Head Coach).  A game in which Leeds played a in very good, and controlled  manner.

The game in which Birmingham took a first half lead, had some key features where in past seasons Leeds have been unsteady! The match at St Andrews finished all square after a spectaular finish from our very own academy product Alex Mowatt.


With many recent headlines being stolen by fellow academy product Lewis Cook, who might I add, had another fantastic game for the Whites rarely putting a foot wrong all game! Mowatt was not going to let another one go his way, securing the point, and almost setting up the win, had somebody managed to get into the 6 yard box when the he head the ball perfectly back across goal.

Leeds played the ball on the ground brilliantly today, and that brings me on to my next point nicely, could "Tika Taka" football be heading towards at Elland Road this season?

Tika Taka

Tiki-taka is a style of play in football characterised by short passing and movement, working the ball through various channels, and maintaining possession.

This is a system that often doesn't work too well in English teams, due to the blunt fact, that English players tend not to be "Technically Gifted" enough to be able to pull it off.

The current Leeds squad now has a fair amount of foreign influence, and lets not forget, Tika Taka started out in Italian football long before the Spanish the title. Could it be that Cellino plans to introduce a more European style to his Leeds?

I can't see why not!

Redfearn mentioned in today's post games comments that they went out with the intention of playing a passing game, and that is exactly what they did!

Fans will be pleased of the style change also, anything that put some distance between that of Warnock old trosh anyday!

Lets not be drawn too much into the fact we also now have our very own "Natural Number 10" in the Brazilian youngster Adryan.

I for one would not complain too much is Leeds United were to turn up at grounds around the country, and play possession based football that was good on the eye, as long as we get the results to go with it!
